Place Mats and A Table Runner

Forever ago I posted about Keith's Maw Maw's 80th birthday party and the part I was playing in it and I have some pictures to show you the finished product.
Like always anything that I sew would not be complete without the motivation from my kitty cat Aubie.
This is me one winter day sporting my fleece pj's, housecoat and glasses while working on the letters for the table runner. Aren't you glad you don't see me everyday?

This is a finished place mat with a sweet note written inside the boarder.

A full size picture of what the place mats look like completed.

And her table runner/birthday banner...

Pears

My in-laws have a pear tree and my pig loves them. Everyday, if I turn my back I have to lure her back to our property because she eats the ones on the ground. With all the branches almost touching the ground due to so many pears I decided I would try to do something with what Keith and I could reach.
The other morning we went and got a basket full and while I am out of jelly jars so pear butter or jam is out of the picture I tried to find something else to make. I came across a breakfast cookie but it only called for 2 pears and I have about 14. For now they are sitting nice and pretty on my counter until I come up with something else. I have thought of maybe washing, coring and slicing them to freeze for smoothies or a pear cobbler in the future.
What do you say I do with them?

Bleached T-Shirts

Once I got a understanding of what I needed to do I found a shirt that was still a good shirt but it had a few grease stains and I dug around to find some old crosses that used to hang in our kitchen.

I headed outside and laid the shirt down flat put the cross on top and sprayed pure bleach on the shirt.

I want to let you know that you should wait about five minutes before spraying the bleach again. The process of the bleach changing the shirt color takes a little time and well I kept spraying wondering why the magic wasn’t taking place.

Ta Da...here is my finished shirt!

A few of the blogs (Frugal Village & All Because 2 People Fell In Love) that I keep up with have posted some frugal homemade Christmas present ideas. We are going to be making some of these shirts with different objects or letters on them as gifts this year. What are you going to make?
