Pillowcase Dress

Tomorrow night a girlfriend is coming over to make a dress just like this one except for it will be in Auburn print fabric. She doesn't know how to sew and I am not good at the curve of the armpit so please be thinking about me tomorrow night around 7pm.

My Sweet Little Pig

Please read below before studying the pictures. I uploaded the pictures after I typed my text so the pictures appeared first. Also remember that you can double click on the picture to enlarge it.

I have been blog hopping this morning and most of yesterday. Toady I came across Eeloh's Blog and found this great post about piglets and it made me miss my little girl when she was a baby. When my little baby lived in the house with us. I had to bottle feed her 3 times a day. She slept under all the blankets in the bed and kept my feet nice and toasty. So here are some pictures of Miss Piggy in her baby days.
Enjoy!!
(I think some of these were scanned or either taken with my very first digital camera so in other words they don't all have great quality.)

Aunt Margaret's Table Runner

I gave my mother a much needed break and watched my Aunt Margaret for a few days while my mom went to visit my sister and celebrate her 29th birthday. About a month prior to keeping Margaret I signed up for a table runner class. I had totally forgotten that Margaret was going to be in my company and kinda freaked out. But because the class was only for a table runner I decided that I would incorporate Margaret and take her with me. So the day before the class she and I decided that we would give it to my mom and say that Margaret made it. Well, she did kinda. So after I got off work off to the quilting shop we went to pick out the fabrics. Margaret really did help me. I gave her a few choice for each color scheme and she picked which one we got. Also at the class she handed me strips to so together so the order that the colors are in are all because of sweet Margaret.Margaret and the table runner without the binding.
Me and Margaret doing some last minute sewing that didn't get done in the class.
(Yes those are Christmas ornaments in my china cabinet still. I know they should have been put up months ago.)

Margaret so happy about the table runner she made.

Almost complete, just lacking the binding.

The fabric for a birthday themed one I plan to make.

The Bed I Want Built

A blogging friend Rachel also post about furniture and clothes she wants. So I figured I would to.
I just love this bed, I love it for three reason 1. It has storage underneath so that would give us more space in our bedroom as we could put clothes in the drawers, 2. It is a dark colored wood. Currently our furniture is a light oak color. I got it when I was in high school so it is still in really good shape but I want a grown looking bed. 3. It would eliminate having a box spring. So if and when we upgrade our mattresses it would be cheaper.
The only down side is that my cat Aubie wouldn't have anywhere to hide when the vacuum gets cut on :(.

So what do you think? I wish me and the hubbie were a tab bit better at building things.

All About Me Quilts

I am planning on making one of these for everyone in my and my husbands family. This is not something that will be done quickly but will eventually get done. So here are the fabrics that I have picked out for my sister and my Aunt Margaret who you might as well call my sister. I have a questioner that I am going to mail to everyone to get more details about their childhood hobbies and things like favorite food dream vacation and so on. That way I will be able to get the best fabrics to match them. I have a feeling I will not get them all but but I guess if you snooze you loose and that will be the case.
Aunt Margaret's fabrics so far.
Amy's fabrics so far

The pattern I will be following.

Beach + Fishing = Great Fish Dinner

This is the fish Keith and his brother Kevin caught while fishing at the beach in July. The fish was really good and the shark was great for lunch the next day.

Dad's Sewing Class

My dad came over this afternoon and used my sewing machine. He did it all by himself and made a pouch to hold his newest tools. He did a great job and had a blast knowing that his daughter was teaching him how to do something. Enjoy the pictures!

A Great Website

I wanted to let everyone know about this great website I just discovered. Well, I found it by reading Spring Water Design's blog. The great website is Freecycle. It was very confusing for me trying to figure out how to sign up and all that stuff but well worth the trouble.
So go check it out!!

The Beautiful Part of Kayaking

Looking at the algae ribbons in the water. I have no idea why but it was so neat to me to be able to touch this slimy stuff.
Eating in the small town of Thomaston and seeing people riding on the 4 lane road in a golf cart. Small towns are great.

More neat algae for the weird-o's like me.

Floating in the water by pretty geese and being able to soak up what God has created for us.

The Not So Fun Part of Kayaking

Having to stop twice to drain water out of Keith's kayak.

Keith almost sinking his kayak. He said that he was so scared. This picture was taken just seconds after he jumped up. Needless to say I didn't not go that same route.

Watching kids play and knowing that I could never play like a kids again and have that much fun.

The hot sun beating down on us and the water was luke warm.

Loading up everything and trying to make sure you haven't forgotten something.

Kayaking on the Flint River

Yesterday after yard selling with my mom (pictures of my finds to come soon) Keith and I loaded up the truck made some great sandwiches and drove the 45 minute drive to the Flint River Outdoor Center. The location we kayaked is in Thomaston, Georgia. We went to the outdoor center paid a small fee and they loaded up our kayaks and took us to the drop off point which made the trip down the river 5 miles. They say it should take about 3 hours to do it but it took us around 4 to 4 1/2 hours. Time doesn't really matter when you are having fun though. We actually were dropped off in Sprewell Bluff State Park and started out journey their. Here are some of the pictures of us having fun and being a kid.
I would like to say THANK YOU to the nice man and his two kids who inspired us to stop and have some fun floating down this little rapid. This family had their own canoe and we pretty much stayed in eye sight of them our whole trip. They were from Pike county and we had a great time interacting and talking with them.
Our kayaks taking a break while we play in the water a little.

Me, floating down a rapid that I managed not to go down when I was in my kayak. Somehow I went another route and got stuck and had to bounce up and down to get unstuck. So I had to go down it why not without the kayak?

Keith's turn...

And a picture of us right before we got out to play. This was taken by the nice man. I wish so badly that I would have gotten some pictures of him and his kids and emailed them to him. I have got to start doing what I feel I should do.

Hobbies

What are your hobbies? Mine are quilting, running, vegetable gardening, reading, kayaking, bike ridding, wood working and sewing.

Per www.dictionary.com hobby is defined as:

1. an activity or interest pursued for pleasure or relaxation and not as a main occupation

Per www.wikipedia.com it is:

is a spare-time recreational pursuit.

So why do our hobbies stress us out? I always find myself taking deep breaths. Is it because it is something that we enjoy doing but at the same time we set such high standards for ourselves that we are always striving to reach?
This is something that is on my mind as I am stressing about getting a quilt done for a family member. They are just glad to get it, they don't care when they get it so why am I stressing.
I would like to know if you stress over your hobbies no matter what they are.

My Garden Today

The garden as a whole!
The cantaloupe, I think there is a total of four.
My tomatoes, the fourth of July type.
An icebox watermelon. Only one is growing.

My sprouts. They are ate up by bugs but I am growing them just because anyways. I gotta get out there and spray them suckers.
Well, when we got back from the beach my lemon cucumber had taken over a whole bed and covered three regular cucumber plants and my sprouts. The regular cucumbers were drying out they were so surrounded. So I pulled up the lemon cucumber and the regular ones.
Then the beefsteak tomato plants had all fallen over so I pulled them up. So not much left growing but hey it is still my little garden.
It is my first year and I have already learned that we don't eat enough tomatoes for five plants. I think I will only plant two next year.
